At Habitat Exchange, we’re committed to enhancing biodiversity through supporting sustainable development. We plan to document our journey as a Biodiversity net gain provider in the beautiful North Yorkshire region. We aim to share every stage from ecology baselining, designing our land to finally creating biodiversity units for our clients.  Its a journey we are incredibly excited about, and we’re thrilled to share it with you.

What Is Biodiversity Net Gain?

Biodiversity net gain (BNG) is an approach to development that ensures habitats for wildlife are left in a measurably better state than they were before the development. In England, BNG is mandatory under Schedule 7A of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as inserted by Schedule 14 of the Environment Act 2021). Developers must deliver a BNG of 10%. This means a development will result in more or better quality natural habitat than there was before development. Where onsite BNG is not possible, Habitat Exchange is here to meet your Offsite BNG requirements in the North Yorkshire planning Region
